Oops... I got a CD from a freind of mine with this song listed as by the Arrogant Worms. I just got one of their actual albums and... yeah. This one is different.

There's also an "Arr, Metis!" or "Arr, ya salty [insert topical reference]" joke before the final verse that is in all versions by The Arrogant Worms. I know of three recordings they made: one on their debut album The Arrogant Worms, the one on Live Bait, and the one on Semi-Conducted.Also, there's a few other minor changes in the C.T. version. For example, the opening is "Well, I used to..." but the A.W. sing it as "I used to...". The A.W. ends on a minor chord and C.T. ends on a major.

It should be pointed out that this is the Captain Tractor version (and some people have), which is probably more famous. There are several token ways to tell this:First of all, the line about "Captain Tractor" is "Tractor Jack" in the original; the flute/recorder/piccolo thing after the chorus is from this version only, in the original they just yell "Arrr!"; finally, the original has a very "comedy folkish" feel while this one has more of a rock feel.
