He has a Papilloma virus (this isn't strange, lots of people have it) and at the same time, he has another disease which allows warts to grow and grow. They dries, and then more warts grow on them (and it looks like wood).

when he cut his knee.. microscopic parasites entered his body and spread around inside himand maybe he didn't treat it correctly at the time like sterilise the cut and bandage it up to minimize infection.. it got infected and got worse, eventually the infection had been in his body so long it caused his dna structure to change and to form warts that slowly got rougher and turned into barkcausing him to look like this? it is possible if you put 2 and 2 together.
