Ever seen a gasoline tank explode???

The big oil giants will try there best to stall this project. Less money in their pocket.

lol yeah try getting Sean Hannity to trade in his hybrid Surburban (or whatever it is) for one of these. I agree though that would be the best thing for the country and the environment. Forget dependance on foreign oil, how about we lose the dependance on oil in general...

hopefully, the Escalades, Hummers, SUVs and other massively oversized gas-guzzling vehicles will be traded in for these safe, light-weight vehicles.

When carbon fiber breaks it splits instead of exploding thats one of the characteristics of carbonfiber. When this happens the compressed air disperses evenly instead of through a focused region. I had the same reservations at first but I'm worried primarily about the aluminum outside more than the compression. I knew about carbon fiber pipes (they're used in some gas lines for the same reason) but what happens when an Escalade smashes into your aluminum frame...

Maybe so but thats a huge amount of pressure and it has to go somewhere.

metal tanks explode in a dangerous way, these are carbon fiber / kevlar tanks that just split open instead of shattering.

Ever seen a compressed air tank explode?A hot water tank can flatten a house to nothing.I wouldn't want to be near one of these things in an accident. The maker claims the tanks won't explode. If one does it will either become a projectile or level everything around it.

I wonder if our german (and we all love german engineering) friend shanghaijoachim is welcoming the general search for alternatives to current global ecological problems humanity is facing or if he is indeed one of those persons who clings on to nuclear power and sticks with the methods of i.e. transportation and energy production of todays world. While he has his points there, the cat needs to and even must be checked out as one of many alternatives to the gaz guzzlers roaming the roads.

??? what is that for an argument??? I don;t lose any air?? Of course, not! But I lose lots of energy as it is dissipated as heat while compressing air. That's just the natural thermo-dynamic process. Just have a look at a p/v-graph, if u don;t believe or try to pump air in a tyre. And yes, power plants are more efficient to produce electricity nowadays, but they do not exceed 38 % as the degree of efficiency. |
