Difficult to pen more poignant lyrics. What a triumph.

What a GREAT Song, so sad and painful.I don't know if Janis Ian had any other "Big" songs except for this one. I wonder where she is now.

i remember singing this song over and over again driving my sister. At the age of 17, I remember feeling every word Janice sang. I did not even know Celine Dion sung this song. I love her vocal abilities. I got to check out her interpretation of this song.

Janis loved Celine's version. I sent Janis a personal e-mail thanking her for such a wonderful song. She wrote back and stated that she loved Celine's version. Lighten up, people. Exposure only keeps music of this quality alive.

I disagree. Because of Celine, I discovered this wonderful song and the lovely Janis Ian. I'm sure I'm not the only one. Celine stated that she relates to this song because she always felt like an ugly duckling growing up.

Personally, I think it's obscene that Celine Dion covered this song.Firstly, it's the greatest song ever written by a woman. Secondly, the lyrics are deeply personal. Finally, I don't believe Celine could relate to it, having recorded seven albums by the time she was seventeen.

i agree.... esp when this song is brought back today in 2008 and pays a tribute to janis ian.

I like this slow. the only version i've heard is D.H.T's, and hers is fast and techno-y sounding. i like both versions.
