My Aunt's Historic Home

My Aunt bought this historic home in 2001. It was in a sad state of disrepair when she bought it. She restored it to its former beauty and lived there until she died in 2004. My Aunt was a big influence in my life. I miss her very much! This house was build by a Choctaw Native American for his bride before statehood. He started building it in 1902 and didn't finish it until 1909. This house has 6 fireplaces (yes, count them, 6) and 5 bedrooms. He even imported Tiger Wood from Africa to go around some of the fireplaces. We could not get a true measurement of its exact square footage because of the octagon shape of many of the rooms. They estimated it as being in excess of 6,000 sq foot.

Thank you so much for watching the video. I know were you are from because of your hints. I am not from that part of the state though. I just know it from visiting my Aunt. It is truly the most beautiful part of the state though. I really miss my Aunt, she has been gone 4 years now.

Ok, I'm leaving another comment. Wasn't enough room. I wanted to tell you how I found this vid. I was on foxnews & clicked a link to view the historic images from the hurricane in Galveston, then I saw videos for historic homes which we LOVE & eventually, this video came up in the list & I clicked it & as soon as it came up I knew where it was & thought wow, how strange is this? I had no clue it was on here. BEAUTIFUL home!! I'm so glad you posted. Can't wait to show my hubby when he gets home.

I know exactly where this house is. My hubby & I have driven by it a thousand times over the past few years. We always stop in front of it & stare...it's so beautiful. We love historic homes. We live about 10 miles down the road from you in a little town that starts with a V. It's where the bulldogs are. ;) Anyway, we've always wanted to see the inside of this house & now we can. Thanks for posting this. It's absolutely beautiful & the song, wow! It is so sweet what you've done with this video.
