--not really a YES fan, but i know jp's rejection was a unanimous call among ALL the members of the band. bass-player, [chris squire] just relayed the story. ASK A YES fan. they will know the details.

yeah but some times the one annoying person may only be annoying to one person in the band, and then the other one's want him to be, thats kinda hard, but I guess thats not how the yardbird broke I dunno... ;)

You're saying because of the Bass player, JP didn't get the job? The other band members didn't notice the SAME "out there" playing and were willing to accept him?? Sounds "lame" to me.....

--bands split sometimes just because they've outgrown each other--but i never knew of one to actually split just because of one rouge bandmate.[usually the rebel bandmate gets the boot]--then the band moves on. YES didn't want JP because the bass-player actually said his guitar-style was too OUT THERE. it was all business. they didn't even know JP's personality. [or if he even had one]. in this clip JP is flatter than a pancake--just listen. don't be so one-dimensional. pass the syrup plz.

RockNRollRanter: I was thinking the same thing. That solo was "eh." But, "he got better!" :o)

You don't choose another band member just by their ability to play their instrument....it also has to do with personalities. Anyone who has ever been in a band knows that if you get someone in the band who is a loner, or a trouble maker (for instance) the band could split, so you have to be very careful who you choose. Maybe THIS is the reason?

--NO. i probably COULDN'T do better--[unless i tuned up the guitar a bit by throwing it down A flight of stairs].--and VERY DOUBTFUL that there were more than 500 ppl in the crowd during this taping. I DON'T MEAN TO TALK BAD ABOUT ANYBODY but if JP is so great, why did the band YES say NO to JP. ASK ANY YES FAN about this and they will back it up. they're all over the place.

You know what? Forget that last comment. "Timmy" was just starting out, after all, and...well, he did better than I ever could! :-)
