Kalna, 24 Jan 04 : The passengers of UP Kamrup Express (Howrah - Guwahati) yesterday escaped a  major accident near Patuli, a village near Kalna. The villagers of Patuli noticed a log on the rail line  between Patuli & Belerhat station at around 7 pm yesterday. The train was scheduled to pass through the area shortly. The villagers brought the fact into notice of the Station Master of Patuli. The railway officials rushed to the scenario and removed the obstruction. The station master said, "It could have resulted into severe accident as Kamrup Express was scheduled to pass through the area. We are looking into the fact whether the same was done some militants on the eve of the Republic Day. Also it can also be done by dacoits in order to stop the train." 

On contacting, the Inspector in charge, Katwa G.R.P. Biswajit Choudhury accepted the truth of the incident but didn't agree to comment on it as the investigation is on.
