Eight workers of the Trinumool Congress was arrested by the
Kalna police while they were campaigning infront of the Dhatrigram
High School. The school, also a center for the ongoing Higher
Secondary exams was at the silence zone. The police has seized 4
mikes and a loud speaker from the vehicle.
"The TMC workers were caught campaigning in a TATA Sumo
infornt of a school. This is a violation of the norms set out by
the Election Commission. The police & the administration have
done their duties" commented Biren Ghosh, the Zonal Secretary
of the CPI(M) in Kalna.
The District Secretary (organization) of the TMC, Bablu Mukherjee
however confronted, "the workers were not caught campaigning
infront of the school. The police is working as instructed by the
ruling party members. This is an effort to terrorize our workers
so that they restrain from taking part in the future
campaigning."
