An aspiring engineering student is on the verge of loosing his hearing power after been ragged by seniors. Himanshu Sarkar, a 1st year student of the National Institute of Technology, Durgapur (formerly R. E. College) was mercilessly tortured by five seniors of the same institution. Himanshu lodged a complaint against Swadesh Sarkar & four more students, all students of the 3rd year at the electronics department of the premium institute. Himagshu informed that, the group over powered beat him mercilessly while he was studying in his room last night. The beating went on for nearly one hour and was stopped only when Himagshu became unconscious. Today he consulted a private doctor with complain of severe pain all over his body & loss of partial hearing power. The police, arrested Swadesh Sarkar after receipt of complaint from Himagshu. The district police super, Niraj Kumar Singh informed that, the search is on to find Sarkar's allies.
