The state transport & sports minister, Subhash Chakraborty today lashed out the police alleging that the police are not be dependable to help running the state administration smoothly. The receipt of information that car hijackers have struck in Salt Lake today made the minister burst open. Chatraborty was here today to inaugurate two-day state conference of state municipal staffs at Durgapur City Centre area. 

Chakraborty today repeated his anger against the act of cops in the hotel owned by Avtar Singh, husband of Jyotirmoyee Sikdar, member of parliament of CPI(M). He made a sharp reaction on the car hijacking case stating, "how long can the police be depended to run the administration? They fail to ensure smooth atmosphere." About his stand in Avtar Singh case, Chakraborty clarified, "I have already told what is my opinion in this regard. Again I repeat that the police can not act as a protector in a democratic system. We are all experienced to that." he added, "the police had arrested my old mother and my kin in place of myself on November 1971. How can I forget that? They always do such mistakes & its quite known to everyone." Whether he has subscribed similar view to the state government about the police act in Avtar Singh episode, Chakraborty said, "I maintain parity and identical view, it does not matter where I am talking!"

The sports minister reacted sharply when was asked, "whether Sikdar has behaved as a sound sports personality by keeping silent about the misdeeds at her husband’s hotel?" the angry sports minister said, "why her gesture is being questioned? Who told you that she made a foul act?"
