One person has been arrested this evening from Mahiskapur area of Benachity, Durgapur at a joint raid conducted by the city police along with their Birbhum colleagues. Sudesh Bauri was arrested on `confirmed tip-off' received by interrogating the 7 arrested previously in connection with the theft of Rabindranath Tagore's Noble prize recently.

Bauri has been primarily identified with prior criminal background. "He hails from Birbhum originally & used to operate the Asansol-Durgapur stature as well had a substantial link with Birbhum based gang, but for quite sometime, as far the DGP police file, the person was deserted by his former colleagues. We are yet to ascertain whether he was really involved in the Shantinekatan incident" informed the district police super, K.C. Meena. 

The person has been handed over to the Bolpur police for further interrogation. The Burdwan police let successive operations in Birbhum Burdwan bordering Junglemahal stretch after a tip-off indicating that the miscreants might have left the stolen articles in the area. The matter however proved to be a hoax.
