lover, is now involved as a volunteer with the local Childern's Welfare Society in Bidhannagar after taking VRS from the Alloy Steel Plant, Durgapur.
Saha, an original resident of Dhaka, now in Bangladesh had
to migrate to this part of the undivided Bengal in 1942.
The division of Bengal as well as India still haunts this
gentleman. Saha informed bardhaman.com, "all I seek
that the enmity between India & Pakistan should be
wiped off & regular train, bus, air &
communication mediums should be started immediately to
enhance free travel between the citizens of this
neighbouring countries."
"the query of children regarding the recent Iraq war was a shock to me. That moment I decided to undertake a walk to Pakistan to spread anti-war & peace messages all over" said Saha. "I was worried that the image of common Muslims have become
wrapped among the millions of non-Muslim children of our country. They even are scared to be friends with Muslims. I hope my visit to Pakistan will help to convince millions of our children that there are good Samaritans in our neighbouring country too." Saha is supported by his wife in his `dream'. Hasi Saha, his wife said, "There is nothing wrong in walking for peace & friendship. I'm proud that he thinks about the good of mankind."
The residents of Bidhannagar, where the Saha family live have promised to extend their all round support to this idealistic man. Kobi Ghosh, secretary of the residents' association of the area informed, "we will extend all help for this noble journey. He will bring honour for us."
Saha plans to walk all the way on the Grand Trunk Road (NH2). The NHAI authorities feel proud that Saha will `use G. T. Road, the lifeline of both the countries in his journey to Peshwar'. "We are happy that one Durgapur resident is going to a place from where Sher Shah Suri had started building the road centuries ago." said the project director of NHAI, G. K. Goel. "The relevance of this road is underlined by the fact that even today one has to opt for it to carry out a mission of peace" added he.
