Durgapur,
03 May. 04:
The CPI-M candidate for Durgapur Lok Sava seat, Mr Sunil Khan has become most expensive for the party in the district as the party has to meet the washing expense billed by the administration worth Rs 51 thousand in Durgapur alone. The administration has sent the bill to the district CPI-M last week seeking early reimbursement.
The District administration had ordered the political parties to wash out the poll
graffiti on either government or semi-government installations. The Burdwan administration had set 31 March as the final dateline for the job. Most of the parties did not bother to lend a loyal gesture against the administration whip. The administration then started cleaning the walls at its own effort and as per the government decision, the bill incurred by the respective sub-divisional authorities to carry out the job have been sent to the respective political parties individually. The bill was calculated as Rs 55 per square
meter of cleaning. According to the |

district administration officials, 'maximum expense was incurred to clean up the
wall paintings made by the CPI-M in favour of the party candidate Mr. Sunil Khan. The expenditure amount for CPI-M reached Rs 51000.' Mr Osman Ghani, SDO, Durgapur said, 'we have sent the bill as per the government instruction in this respect. we hope they will reimburse the sum accordingly.'
The Kalna administration on the other hand has billed Rs 55 thousand in aggregate against washing out the wallings of all political parties. The SDO, Mr. Srikumar Chakraborty said, 'by 5 May we shall table the exact bill sum.

The BDOs have been
instructed so.' The Purbasthali block in Kalna has witnessed
maximum amount of walling on government installations. The
Durgapur administration faced difficulty when the CPI-M raised
objection against cleaning bill for closed Mining and Allied
Machinery Corporation township. The CPI-M had made maximum poll
walling on the township installation with an apprehension that the
government would have no objection to the walling on closed CPSU
walls. The CPSU was closed in January 2002. Mr B. K. Chakraborty,
CPI-M district secretariat leader said, 'MAMC is now no body's
child. How come the administration charge for that?' The SDO, Mr
Ghani explained, 'we have done whatever the election observers
directed us. Also we have no such record in our possession that
the closed MAMC is no more a government property. So we charged.'
