Burdwan,
31 July, 04:
A three members enquiry committee formed to enquire the leakage of
of BA part I Bengali paper II question papers at Memari College,
have submitted their report to
Prof. Amit Mallick, VC, Burdwan University. According to the report, Gopikanta Konar,
the principal of Memari College is accountable for not performing his duties properly.
Report says, `it is a case of gross negligence on the part of the principal of the
college'. The committee has also recommended to take action against the
college principal.
The Bengali paper II exams were held on 28th June. But the principal of Memari College who was also the 'center in charge' of the examination opened the packet
containing question papers of the 3rd paper. After detecting this fault, the
university had to stop the examination in all centers. SFI alleged that this was not just a mistake of the principal. SFI also staged deputation demanding enquiry about the matter and the enquiry committee was formed. The three members committee consisted of Dr. Swapnadwip
Thakur, of Chemistry Dept. Dr. L. K. Samanta, Dean of science and controller of examination Bipad Taron Ghosh. During enquiry, committee observed that after receiving the packet of question paper from the Memari Police Station, it is obligible to open it in front of two members of center committee. But in this case it was not done. The committee also found that only 283 question papers were recollected out of 290 papers distributed to the examinees. When asked about the incident and report of the enquiry committee the Vice Chancellor Amit Kumar Mallick told Bardhaman Dot Com that the report is awaited and after receiving the report he will think about the future course of action. Although principal Gopikanta Koner when contacted about the allegation and charge brought against him, emotionally denied any ill motive behind this and described it as a mere mistake.
