The sessions judge of Burdwan district court, Nepal Chandra Mondal today convicted Sk. Akbar & Togor Sk. of murdering a couple. He sentenced both of them with life imprisonment. The duo murdered Sk. Omar & his wife, Mamtaz Begum of Kumarpur village under Galsi police station area on 14th January 2003. Omar was the brother of Sk. Akbar. 

Police investigation reveled that, Akbar & Togor strangled Omar & buried his body at the floor of a neighbouring shop. They also killed Mamtaz, cut her body in pieces & disposed the body ina sack beside the railway track. Police had arrested Akbar, Togor & six more allies of them. The judge released the six allies due to lack of evidence.
