of Bengal have chosen us & will retain us in future too.' He

and Bharat Uday campaigns. He said, "a lesser
portion of the people of this country is shinning while the

from Burdwan, I
saw the greenery all around." He
referred this to the success in the agricultural field of the
leftists in the last 27 years. He also thanked the voters of the
area for being the main pillars of this strong hold of CPI(M).
The minister recollected his memories of the student days when he
stepped into the student politics at the MAMC, Durgapur. He said
inspite of NDA's `evil motif' of either selling or closing all
nationalised industries, the state government is working hard in
the alternative measure of the economic reforms. He claimed the
state has attracted huge fresh investments in both conventional
& information technology industries. He also added,
"Almost 700 plastic industries have been setup in a short
span. This denotes that inspite of all rumors, the state is
attracting investors at a large."
The CPI(M) candidate Meheboob Jahidi said, "The TMC-BJP
will fly away in the anti-NDA storm in Katwa." He also have
attacked the BJP led NDA government for their `anti common
people policies'. He said, "people of West Bengal have
never supported such parties & will also throw them this
time."
Among the other speakers, Arun Ganguly of CPI, Promothesh
Mukherjee, the RSP candidate at Baharampur, Amal Halder, the CPI(M) district secretary & Nikhilananda
Sar, the CPI(M)
candidate at Burdwan were present. The Chief minister proceeded
to Kalna to address a rally in support of the leftist candidate.
Although Katwa believed to be a strong hold of the CPI(M) led
left-front, this time the TMC-BJP candidate Sultan Ahmed &
the ex-CPI(M) member of parliament & current candidate of
PDS, Saifuddin Choudhury is hopeful to put up a strong fight
against CPI(M). A TMC leader said, "it is now established
that the CPI(M) led left front is worrying about this
constituency. That why they got the chief minister to address
two rallies (Katwa & Kalna) in this constituency."
