The BJP led NDA government was trying to demolish the education system of the country, commented Somnath Chatterjee today at Burdwan. He was in the city to inaugurate the golden jubilee celebration of the MUC Women's College, Burdwan. We also informed that the current government should change the changes in the syllabus imposed by the NDA government. He said, "religion, communalism & superstition cannot help a country's growth. Hence we should not let these things effect the country's

education was the prime concern of the state & it will `take all necessary steps to promote education among the female section of society.' Chatterjee inaugurated the four days long golden jubilee celebration of the college today morning. 

When asked at a press conference about the NDA's decision of boycotting the parliament, the speaker replied, "the boycott will not effect the normal functioning of the parliament." He also informed that 
earlier the parliament functioned normally inspite of boycott by the opposition parties. "I have personally requested L. K. Advani to withdraw the boycott." Prof. Amit Mallick, vice chancellor of Burdwan university & Nikhilananda Sar, the local member of parliament were also present at the function.
