BURDWAN: SALISI SAHBHA FAIL TO RESOLVE QUARREL, MAN DARTED ON THE NECK BY FELLOW VILLAGER

The controversy over the salisi bill is rocking the state, a tribal was hit by a fellow villager at the neck with an arrow by a fellow villager, after the village panchayet members failed to resolve their confrontation. Harun Rashid Mirja was rushed to the Burdwan Medical college & hospital where the doctors operated the arrow out of his neck. His conditions has been reported to be serious.

The incident happened today morning at Ukta village under Aushgram police station. Firoja Bibi, the daughter of Harun informed bardhaman.com, "yesterday evening Pudin Hebram, a local daily labour came down to our house drunk & demanded her due wages of 19 days. My father informed her that, her actual dues are for 9 days. This initiated a quarrel between them." She also informed that Harun hit her after she ushered slang on him. She managed to flee & inform the fact to her relatives. The villagers managed when her angry relatives & neighbours was about to attack Harun's residence. The village leaders today sat a local meeting to resolve the quarrel. The `salisi sabha' was organised at a local primary school. The two parties again broke into quarrel at the meeting. The members of the Hebram family left the meeting. This led Harun & his associates to attack her residence. The Hembrams showered arrows on the attacking group. One such arrow hit Harun on his neck & he was rushed to Burdwan in critical condition.

The district police super, Niraj Kumar Singh said, "the incident took place after a local village meeting. One of the two parties were injured by an arrow of the other. The accused have left the village. Police is in search of them & a police picket have been posted at the village to control the tension."
