The Burdwan district 2nd additional session judge today sentenced Sk. Simanta alias Sk. Saiful of life imprisonment for murdering his wife. Simanta surrendered at Khandagosh police station on 02.09.03 after killing his wife. He stated the police that, he murdered his wife, Rejina Bibi on 01.09.03 while they were coming back from a movie. Police arrested him & recovered the body form the side of a local canal.

Simanta although confessed his guilt, never spoke out the reason behind the murder. The couple was married about one year before the incidence happened.
