TAGORE'S NOBLE PRIZE STOLEN FROM
MUSEUM

In a shocking incident that has sent tremors in the entire literary society and people of India, the much appreciated Nobel prize won by Rabindra Nath Tagore for ‘Geetanjali’ in 1913 A.D., was stolen from a museum in Uttarayan complex, Shantiniketan last night by unknown miscreants. 

This discovery was made early morning today when the office staff of the Viswa Bharati museum came and found out that the lock of the door was broken and the ‘priceless trophy’ along with some other extremely important documents were missing. Various paintings, acclamations and certificates awarded to Tagore by the governments and literary societies of different countries are also reportedly missing.
While revealing this information to the media persons, Sujeet Kumar Basu, the Vice-Chancellor of Vishwa Bharti University 

said that the entire staff is shocked at this incident. The museum has been sealed by the police who is investigating into this matter. 

He said that although the keys of the office lies with the caretakers and proper security is provided here still there has been many incidents of burglary and thefts in the surrounding area for past few days. This information is said to have leaked by some internal source. 

The chief security in-charge of the museum, Arup Sil reveled that a proposal for increasing security measures at the site was sent to the Vice-Chancellor a month back. "We had proposed to increase security personnel for 24 hours. Installation of Close-Circuit Television & Intruder Detector devices were also requested" said he.

Meanwhile, West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadev Bhattacharya has ordered a CID inquiry into the incident. Bhattacharya

described it as a `catastrophe` and asked the Director General of Police to immediately send a team to Shantiniketan. The Chief Minister has also demanded a first hand report from the Vice Chancellor of Vishwa Bharti University.

Meanwhile, the Trinamool Congress has asked for a judicial enquiry into the incident.
