CPI(M) PROTESTS, "TMC-BJP CANDIDATE AT KATWA BRIBING THE VOTERS"

Burdwan , 24 Apr. 04 :
The CPI(M) today lodged a complaint against Sultan Ahmed, the TMC-BJP candidate at Katwa to the District Magistrate, Burdwan. The CPI(M) today brought into the notice of the DM that Ahmed is distributing TMC logo printed pens, calendar & footballs. The CPI(M) claimed this to be violation of the norms laid down by the ECI.

The District Magistrate Burdwan, Subrata Gupta said, "we have received the complaint & the sample of items. We will conduct an enquiry & submit the report to the Election Commission of India if the candidate is found guilty."

Swapan Debnath, the TMC leader of Katwa said, "as Sultan Ahmed is popular among both the young & older generation, the local CPI(M) is quite worried about their result in the election. They have printed & distributed these items to malign our image." He also added, "As Sultan Ahmed is associated with sports, they have also included items like football."
