A doctor of the Srikhanda health center near Katwa has been severely beaten by the villagers after a patient treated by him expired this morning. The mob ransacked the health center & rounded by the doctor at his quarter adjacent to the health center after Gouri Majhi (23) expired following treated by the doctor suffering from diarrhea. The villagers stormed at his house & literally pulled the doctor out of his quarter before beating him mercilessly. Sova Majumder, a staff nurse was also reported to be assaulted by the mob.

The CMOH-II, Dr. B. D. Sau rushed to the spot & rescued the doctor & staffs with the help of the police. Although the villagers complain of negligence of the doctor for the death of Majhi, the CMOH explained that, her death was due to her critical ill health. He said, "she was brought to the hospital late."
