BUS OWNERS-PASSENGERS CONFRONTATION CONTINUES

The bus services continues to be disrupted for a third consecutive day by daily passengers following abolishment of concessional fare. The altercation between the bus owners & the passengers started today morning at Tinkonia bus stand. The passengers set rampage & broke glass panes once the buses reached on the outskirts of the city. The district bus owners association stopped bus services immediately.

The president of the Burdwan Motors & Transport union, Kalishankar Pal informed, "the quarrel started when some of the passengers declined to pay the full fare & even beat the conductor once he demanded fare stating the abolishment decision with reference to the administrative decision". The bus services were stopped till the afternoon after which it normalised. 

Later buses started plying with the help of police force on certain routes. As per information received at the late evening, the bus operators of Burdwan - Arambag route have started identifying the protesting passengers & handed over some of them to the police. This have sent sensation among the passengers & doubts of bigger confrontation persists tomorrow.
