Burdwan , 22 Feb. 04 :  
An under construction flyover on Durgapur Expressway (built under the Golden Quadrilateral Program) collapsed today afternoon. More than 100 workers on this 350' long & 7 meters high bridge are feared to be injured. According to primary reports, more than 50 workers were taken to Memari Gramin Hospital. 14 workers are reported to be admitted at the hospital & 2 critically injured workers (Tarak Baral & Sk. Jiyaul) are admitted at the Burdwan Medical College & Hospital.

"We fear the concrete bridge collapsed mainly because of a wrong rod structure." said one of the critically injured at Burdwan hospital. Although the administrative officials at the site feared more people can be trapped under the debris, no confirmation has been received about more casualties yet.
