The Director of health services has ordered transfer
of 14 block medical health officers after receiving serious complaint of not performing duties by them . Most of them are
engaged in private practice neglecting their duties at the block hospitals and health centers. The director of health services has ordered transfer of BMOHs of Pursa, Bhatar , Memari, Jamalpur, Khondoghosh,
Madabhdihi , Srirampur health centers. Though they haven asked to hand over their charges to the relievers, it is learnt that the present
BMOHs are reluctant to leave their present posting areas
as they are very much established in their private practice there. They have earned
high reputation in their private practice and nearly
cater to sixty to seventy patients at their chambers and clinics
each day.
The doctors, sources inform are reluctant to accept
transfer as their association with the government
centers not only entitle them for salary at govt. scale
but also make them easily acceptable to the patients. It
is quite easily understandable that, change in posting
will make the professional life of the doctors tough as
it will take some time to earn reputation at a new place
before they get good response from the patients there. After the transfer order have been issued the
health officials are now desperately trying to influence
the higher officials to stop the transfer. When asked about the transfer of
BMOHs, Dr. Sarengi, the CMOH informed, the transfer order
have not being received by him. He guarded the health
officials by stating, "though the BMOHs are busy with private
practice, most of them attend the block hospitals at night."
"The local peoples have approached us to keep these BMOHs to their present posting area."
added the CMOH.
