Four passengers of a local ferry boat including a three years old child drowned to death yesterday night when the boat overturned at the middle of Khari river. The boat carrying about 22 passengers was ferrying between Sahajatpur & Nadanghat overturned at a storm. Archana Bag (15), Basanti Mora (30), Sahinur Begum (25) & Dipon Seikh (3) died & their bodies were recovered at the night. The boatman is absconding. Although no more bodies were recovered at the night & day long search by the police, the local people demanded that more than 5 people are still missing.

The SP Burdwan, K. C. Meena rushed along with the SDPO, Kalna to the spot at the night. He supervised the search. The Sabhadhipati of the Burdwan Zilla Parishad, Uday Sarkar visited the area today.
