to the Election Commission. The TMC protested against the usage of
microphone in a public function at the Marconi Puja Maidan,
Durgapur on the occasion of Bengali New Year.
A local club had organised the function where noted singer Manna
Dey had performed. The club continued with the event inspite they
were not granted permission by the administration. Dr. Subir Kr,
Bhattacharjee, MD of DSP, Laxman Ghosh, a local CPIM leader and
the Dy. Mayour of Durgapur were present on the stage.
"This is a violation of the high court's order against usage
of microphone during the ongoing higher secondary examinations.
Police didn't dare to stop the event as it is backed by the CPIM
leaders & workers. CPIM in disguise of a local club organised
this event to collect funds for the election. Tickets/invitation
cards were sold not less than Rs. 500 each. Even the electrical
connection was taken illegally." said Chandranath Mukherjee,

organised without any permission of the district administration.
He said, "The sound boxes used in the function has been
seized and we are taking action against the secretary of the
organising committee. We have ordered a probe in the matter."
