The District Magistrate Burdwan Subrata Gupta has issued show-cause notice to Aloke Samanta and Arun Nayek, two food inspectors of Gushkara area and canceled the dealership of Birendranath Pal, a ration dealer of Diknagar after they were found guilty for not performing their duties in supplying rice and BPL cards allotted for the poor villagers. A day after the Diknagar incident
demonstration & police firing, the district
magistrate along with some food department officials inspected the ration dealers of the area and seized some undistributed BPL cards, documents and detected discrepancies in distribution of rice and other food grains allotted for the poor villagers under
antyodoy and annapurna yojona of the government. During inspection, it was observed that the role of the food inspectors of the area were not crystal clear. Being dissatisfied with the role of the food inspectors, the district magistrate ordered enquiry about their role. During primary investigation it was revealed that, the role of two inspectors was not beyond doubts and subsequently they have been issued show-cause notices.
Meanwhile the CPIM workers have started a signature campaign and allegedly compelling the villagers to sign on the papers declaring that, they have been enjoying all the benefits allotted for them. The local
Trinamool Congress leader Nityananda Chatterjee informed, TMC will very soon publish a list of poor villagers who have been deprived by the panchayet of all facilities allotted to them under central and state government schemes. It is learnt that the ration dealers are very much aggrieved with role of the local
panchayet and CPIM leaders in the area. Sources inform that, at a secret meeting, the local M.R. dealers have decided to surrender their dealerships. According to ration dealers, it is the local CPIM leaders who pressured them not to distribute the BPL cards to the poor people and now
washing their hands off it to save themselves from the dispute. Meanwhile today five
naxalite organisations have submitted a memorandum to the district
magistrate demanding immediate release of the innocent people arrested by the police after the incident. The organisation
also demanded a judicial inquiry of police firing and also immediate arrest of
panchayet pradhan Tapil Bagdi and local CPIM leader Sajal Ghosh.
