The railway police & the district administration
have initiated separate enquiry at the Diknagar
incident. The SDO, Burdwan (North), Gopal Ch. Ghosh have
been allotted to enquiry & report to the District
magistrate. The DSP (HQ) have handed over the
suicide note recovered from
the bag of Shantinath Chattapadhay to the OC, GRP. The OC
GRP along with the investigating officer today visited the
residence of Shantinath in Ausgram and met his wife and other relatives to
enquire the details of the yesterday's incident.
Yesterday Shantinath, husband of a ration dealer of the area, allegedly
involved with selling of rice allotted to the poor, committed suicide jumping in front of
speeding Santiniketan express near Guskara station. At his
suicidal note, Shantinath mentioned the names of two
local CPIM leaders accusing them for his death. The
cousin of Chatterjee informed that, the CPIM leaders
demanded a sum of Rs. 1,50,000 as fine from his uncle, which he denied to pay. Then the CPIM leaders threatened
him to face dire consequences. Sibdas Chatterjee also
informed that they have no confidence on police inquiry and will very soon file a case demanding neutral probe in
the Diknagar incident.
In another incident, yesterday, some villagers gathered in front of the house of Dibakar Bagdi, a local worker of CPIM who stocked the rice allotted for the children's
mid day meals in his house at Takipur. Villagers gathered in large number and staged demonstration in front of Dibakar's house when
a local CPIM leader interfered at the matter. The villagers being dissatisfied with the interference of CPIM leader, went to the police station to lodged a
complain against Dibakar accusing him of stealing midday meal allotted for the children. The local CPIM leader managed some how and resisted the villagers from lodging the
complain at the police station. Later Dibakar Bagdi shifted the stock of rice
to a primary school at Sarkarpara of the village.
