Burdwan, 11 Aug 04 :
The district's bus owners doubt that the bus services may hit badly from today, i.e. the second of the three day long petrol pump strike called by the pump owners. Most of the private buses are likely to go off the roads today afternoon onwards, informed Sarat Koner, the joint secretary of the Burdwan district bus association. He said, "most of our buses do carry fuel for one day. It is impossible for the operators to stock fuel for three days. Hence the buses are likely to go off the road during the last 50% of the strike period."

The consequences have been confessed by the transport department. The regional transport officer, Subal Chandra Roy said, "if the bus operators even tried to stock fuel for three days, that would have resulted in crisis of diesel." He also informed that the government buses will ply more frequently by confessed it will not be sufficient enough to overcome the scarcity.
