The NCC authority has decided to stop all its NCC activities at the Burdwan Raj College. The decision was made after the NCC personnel were attacked by the college students on 3rd August. The NCC training
by 4 Bengal Battalion was a part of the Raj Collge since the early fifties and the decision of withdrawing it will be a great loss to the college students.

On 3rd August some college students
allegedly attacked the NCC jawans situated with in the College campus. However the college principal accused the jawans to start up the fight. He also said that the jawans attacked the students with draggers after the students protested selling of
illegal liquor by the jawans. Police & administrative officers rushed to the spot to control the
confrontation. Even police picket was posted for three days to maintain peace and tranquility in the college premises. Later at a press statement issued by Major
K.P.S. Khaki described the allegation of selling liquor by the NCC trainers is a false one and this is effort to malign
the image

the Indian army. The NCC authority described this attack as an effort to vacate the premises forcibly by creating panic on the NCC trainers. A high level meeting was held in the chamber of district magistrate on 5th August and was attended by SP,
SDO, DM, ADM and NCC officials along with faculty members
of Raj College. Subrata Gupta, the district magistrate asked both the

take necessary steps so that peace and tranquility is maintained in the college. He also asked the principal to
channelise the proposed shifting of the NCC quarter from the campus through West Bengal government to the defense ministry. However principal of Burdwan Raj College S.C. Nandi claimed that, the NCC trainers drink within the college campus and create nuisance. Addl. district magistrate, Binod Kumar told Bardhaman Dot Com that, "the district administration has asked the principal to see that such type of incident doesn’t takes place further and also asked the NCC personnel to see the jawans and trainers behave properly with in college premises." |

However
district magistrate has resigned from the governing body of Burdwan Raj college & Memari college. When asked about the resignation he told it to be for "a personal reason and nothing to do with the recent conflict with the
NCC".
