The wardmasters & group D staffs of the Burdwan Medical College & Hospital have allegated of not being supported by the union at their clash with the doctors. A member of the CITU led West Bengal Ministerial Officers' Association today said, "the union is not backing us properly. Now we are being made scapegoat on an incidence where the doctors started & lead the confrontation. After the doctors attacked us, they managed to lodge a complaint with the police & we withheld countering that on advise of the union leaders. Now, the same leaders are questioning us after we took anticipatory bail for the complain lodged against us. The union is also delaying the two party meeting."

Samir Chakraborty, the president of the other union of the BMCH staffs, State Government Employees Federation (U) informed, "Although the incidence is sad enough, but it was initiated by the doctors. The staffs went to meet with the super based on prior appointment when the doctors present at his chamber informed the staffs to leave due to their `private discussion'. Although the staffs were not from our union, we will definitely fight for them if requested. Some of the doctors of the hospital has stayed back here for years & are often misbehaving with the staffs." He also said, "the group D staffs have to do all clerical & even have to stitch the wounds in the emergency ward, while they are not been appointed for such services. Although more than 100 computers have been installed in the hospital, the services are yet to begin. None of the group D staffs have been trained to use a PC where we have to manage the vital points like emergency admission windows & central enquiry. When even a hospital carpenter (Mahadev Modak) have been trained by the hospital authority, their negligence in this matter is quite astonishing".

Dr. Anup Saha, the head of the surgery department of the hospital & the current in-charge of the MSVP informed, "an enquiry team has been formed & Prof. Udayan Ganguly will head the committee." He also informed that, the committee will meet tomorrow & will initiate an enquiry on the matter.
