BURDWAN : MUNICIPAL COUNCILOR ARRESTED FOR RANSACKING BAR

The city police have arrested six persons including a municipal councilor in connection with ransacking a bar at Mehidibagan area in Burdwan. The bar was torn down by the Forward Block supporters yesterday night. The party leaders informed that, the bar had to face its consequences as it used to `operate without proper & valid licences'. The bar made into headlines on 28th April when it attacked two media personnel as they visited it for `covering its operation without valid licences.'

at the adjacent G. T. road in protest of the `ransack made by the party members.'  The police removed the protesters but they complained of `laathi charge' made by the police on the process. The members of the `babsahi surakha samity' snatched away the bar owners from the police custody when they were removed by the police from the site of protest. The district police super, Niraj Kumar Singh said, "the incidence has been ordered to be enquired by a DSP. He has been told to submit the report within the next three days." He also informed that no police personnel will be spared if he is found guilty. The district CPIM however have mentioned that the `law will take its own way'.
