A case of attempting to kill an innocent by fellow villagers suspecting him as `daini' (evil spirit) have shocked the district administration today. The incident started when Ganesh Hasda (22) a truck driver of Hasurpur under Jamalpur P.S. died 3 days before. The villagers of Hasurpur suspected Mangal Kisku, a fifty years old fellow villager of Hansda's unnatural death & tried to kill him. Police being informed, managed to rescue Kisku. Noone is yet arrested in the incidence.

The district police super, Niraj Kumar Singh informed, "being a tribal village, the people are quite superstitious about these things. The police jumped into action as soon as we were informed & managed to save the person. We are trying to educate the people & no one was arrested, however we are keeping a close vigil."

The secretary of the district committee of Paschimbanga Bigyan Mancha, Sunil Sain said, "we have tried to teach the people in the tribal area many a times against the superstitions, but this kind of incidence proves that, more work has to be done."
