A NGO allegedly involved in extracting money from job seekers in lieu of proposed jobs at the organisation today again came into notice when they used the names of the District Magistrate & Police Super of Burdwan without their consent. 

The organisation's notorious activities were brought into notice of the administration by bardhaman.com on 17.03.04. Krishi Bikash Silpa Kendra not only was extracting money but was also using national emblem to establish itself as an "central government undertaking organisation".

Today they organised a blood donation camp at Ajhapur village, Burdwan. At the invitation letter they distributed, the names of the District Magistrate & the Police Super was printed as the inaugurator & the chief guest respectively. When contacted, both DM & SP confirmed that, their names has been printed without their consent. "Although they came to invite me, I informed them that I'll not be able to attend the function. Inspite of that they have printed my name on the card." said Subrato Gupta, DM, Burdwan. The Superintendent of Police, K. C. Meena already ordered an enquiry against the organisation. The Sabhadhipati of the Burdwan Zilla Parishad, Uday Sarkar said, "they had also approached me to inaugurate the camp. Aware of their past record, I denied to be associated with the function & strictly forbid the organisors to associate my name with it." However the camp was inaugurated by Mahananda Banerjee, the local gram-panchayet pradhan of the CPI(M).

The state organiser of KBSK, Durjoy Biswas couldn't give a suitable answer when enquired about the matter. When asked about the illegal usage of the national emblem, he said, "we have stopped using the symbol since 1999 when we learnt it is illegal." When told the same has been used by their Birbhum office on Feb. 2003, he tried to subside the situation by telling, "that is a false organisation using our name". Similar views were projected by the Birbhum office officials stating their Burdwan counterparts as `fake'. 

These organisation involved with all sort of illegal activities have now braved to use names of the local administrative & political personalities to shield their illegal activities. It seems the illegal activities of the organisation including money extraction will continue at least for a time being unless the police & administrative officials take up the matter seriously.
