What started as a time-pass activity for a housewife in Owari, a village near Khandagosh, is now showing path for self-employment & economic development to over 4000 women including housewives in Owari & adjoining Khandapur, Koishor, Nurpur & Alipur. Hasnehara Begum came to the village as a bride 28 years ago. She along with her daily family activities learnt to weave caps with the help of thread & cruse. Not only she mastered the art herself, but also have passed on the skills to the neighbouring women. The caps are very much praised for the quality & designs by the Muslims of Maharastra,

Gujrat, Delhi & Uttarpradesh. Along with the domestic market, the caps are exported to the Gulf countries & Indonesia.

The demand specially in the export market is much more than the production of these 4000 skilled women. Newer people are pouring in everyday to learn the tricks of the cap weaving skills. Its quite astonishing that the women in the five villages have engaged themselves to the business primarily for the economic development of their families.
