The election commission have today transferred the officer-in-charges of three police station of the Burdwan district. The instruction was received by the office of the Superintendent of Police, Burdwan today. The commission have instructed the district police headquarter to transfer the O.C.s of Hirapur, Andal & Pandabeswar police stations immediately.

The District Trinamool Congress have welcomed this instruction of the election commission. The district organisor of the Trinamool Congress, Chandranath Mukherjee said, "we have earlier appealed before the district administration & the election commission for re-posting of these police officials. These & three more officers have been posted at the same station within a short span of removal from their concerned stations. This is against the guideline laid by the election commission. We strongly believe they were brought back to the stations with the influence of the ruling CPI(M) party to help to conduct the election in their favour."

Kailash Chandra Meena, the district police superintendent when contacted, although confirmed the receipt of order, didn't comment further on the matter.
