DG of W.B. Police handed over keys of 32 police quarters

The Director General of West Bengal police, Shyamal Kumar Dutta today handed over keys of quarters 32 police constables in a ceremony in Burdwan. The then police minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharya four years back laid foundation stone of these quarters. The construction work started off very slow & took momentum only after the current police super Niraj Kumar Singh took charge. The police quarters are situated near the reserve police line. Speaking on the occasion Director General praised the state chief minister for his sincere effort to solve the problem of the police. "In the 10th finance commission,

1360 no. of quarters were proposed to be constructed in the state, out of which 208 quarters were supposed to be constructed in Burdwan district" informed the DG "He added, "200

quarters have been completed." He also informed that, as a part of modernisation, the police force will be equipped with modern arms & vehicles. "The development of police stations has been taken up seriously by the state government," informed Dutta. He also asked the force to take immediate action against the culprits involved in torturing on women. The DG also informed, women police will be posted at the stations to listen to the problem of women. An astonishing performance of Niraj Kumar Sigh, the district police super performing a self-composed song on the force impressed all. DIG Burdwan range, P Ravi, DIG Western range Jogesh Chatterjee and dignitaries were present at the function.
