The CID & the city police have today shut down six institutions of alternative medicine running at Burdwan. Six person including two women have been arrested in the process. The senior police officials informed that, these institutions were running their business with promise to grant students with degree in alternative medicine. The institutes allegedly used to grant medical degrees like MBBS & MD in alternative medicine. The IMA officials were complaining since long to the government that these degree holders were a threat to the society as the institutes training them neither have the necessary infrastructure nor the permission to setup medical training.

The CID along with the local police raided at these colleges after receiving a complaint from the joint secretary of health & family welfare. A case of cheating, misleading the public & violation of medical laws have been registered against the arrested.
