The Burdwan district primary school board have issued notification to all schools in the district stating the guidelines laid by the board keeping into mind the death of 93 students when a fire broke out at a primary school in Kumbhakonam, Tamilnadu. The notice was forwarded along with the translation of the prayer written by the President of India in memory of the charred students. An appeal of the state minister of primary education, Kanti Biswas was also attached along with the notice.

The notification signed by Sk. Sahidul Haque, the president of the board clearly instructs the teachers not to light stoves within the school campus. "We know that mid-day meals have been started in some of the schools of our district. There are also some schools where the lunch for students are cooked out of rice supplied by ICDS, but utmost care have to be taken in the cooking process & the stove should be light at a safe distance from the school" instructs the board president at the notice.

The president of the board seems to agree with the media's concern that the same tragedy may occur any day in the district. It is now to be seen that how many of the schools take preventive measures to escape from another dreadful tragic scenario.
