JHULAN CLAIMS LIFE OF BURDWAN TEENAGER

A city boy expired today after being brunt at a jhulan yatra. Bimal Dhar (15) of Bidhanpally, Burdwan was depicting the Guinness record holder of the longest beard at the local jhulan yatra. On 27.08.04, a fire broke out of short circuit & Bimal was severely burnt when the 13 feet long jute beard caught fire. He as admitted at the Burdwan Medical College & Hospital where he expired today. The death Bimal, an employee of the local cable operator is deeply mourned by the local people.

The police officials informed that, the fire broke due to short circuit of the illegal electric connection the club used to illuminate the jhulan utsav. "We have initiated a probe & our primary findings reveal that most of the jhulan utsavs held in the town use illegal electricity connection which may cost more lives in future. Although we will take stern steps in future yet it is difficult for us to monitor them as all of these doesn't even seek for formal permission" informed a police official of the city police station.
