Burdwan,
01 May. 04:
Almost 500 polling personnel have been summoned from other
districts & states for conducting the 14th Lokshava election
in Burdwan district. Polling officials from the neighboring states
like Jharkhand, Bihar & Assam will be posted in the district.
Recently at an order, the Election commission declared to engage
polling personnel from other states for conducting vote at the
parliamentary election in West Bengal.
The district magistrate, Subrata Gupta told bardhaman.com,
"so far I have been noticed by the state election commission
that 200 polling personnel are coming from Dhubri of Assam. We
will arrange special train to bring them here. These bengali
speaking polling personnel from Assam will be engaged at the Katwa
constituency. Another 100 polling personnel will come from
Shahebganj, Dumka & Pakur. Although not finalised, most of
them are likely to be posted at some sensitive centers of the
district."
District's opposition leaders expressed their satisfaction with
this strong directive of the Election Commission. A Trinamool
Congress leader told, "we are very happy to know that, the
ECI have ordered the district election commission to engage
polling officials from other state. This again proved that the ECI
has agreed with our claim that the leftist use the polling
officials as a part of their electoral machinery. Although we appreciate
this move of the ECI, we also request them to depute 100% of the
polling personnel from other state in future."`
