Asansol, 15 MAY. o4: A Trinamul Congress activist was shot dead in Bogra area near Raniganj last evening. He was dragged out of his residence by a group of eight men and was shot at his chest. He succumbed at the hospital bed. None however could be arrested in this connection till this evening. 

A number of complaints of post poll violence was recorded in Asansol sub-division after the Trinamul Congress lost the battle. Last evening the group allegedly backed by the CPI-M raided the hut of Rajesh Hela (31), a Trinamul Congress activist. He was dragged out of his house and taken to the outskirts of the village. Later the villagers recovered him with bullet injury. He was prompted to the hospital. The district Trinamul Congress president and candidate for Asansol seat, Moloy Ghatak alleged, 'he was my polling agent and was threatened in to dire consequences when he went to the Polling Station. I have intimated every thing to the local police and administration.' He further alleged that he was murdered only because he braved to be a polling agent on behalf of the Trinamul Congress despite of strong caution by the CPI-M in Bogra under Jamuria police station area. 

The person, according to the party leadership had also received threat in front of the polling officials when he had challenged bogus voting. The CPI-M meanwhile has refuted charges and described Hela a migrated miscreant from Bihar. Tapas Kobi, CPI-M district committee member and chairman, Jamuria municipality told Bardhaman.com that Hela was a miscreant and he died out of inter gang rivalry. He also said, 'why should our partymen kill a Trinamul Congress man when we have got an easy victory?' Ghatak meanwhile had to go to the JK Nagar area to help another polling agent Badal De return back to his home on the following day of election. He complained, 'the CPI-M men had threatened him too in to dire consequences. I made official complaint with the local police investigation centre.'
