The Bengal state secretary of Laloo Prasad Yadav's Rashtriya Janta Dal finally has joined the Trinamul Congress today. Mr. Sohrab Ali, the RJD state chief reached the residence of Mr. Moloy Ghatak, the district president of the Trinamul Congress in Asansol this morning and declared his joining.
Mr. Ali's joining with the Trinamul Congress that too on the eve of Lok Sava elections has got a special significance as he had been a CPI-M backed contender for Hirapur assembly seat where from Mr. Ghatak got elected in last assembly election in 2001. In last Parliament election in 1999 too, Mr. Ghatak had a confrontation with RJD's Mr. Ali. Today Mr. Ali declared, 'I am happy that I have been accepted by the Trinamul Congress whole heartedly and I too have assured the party to extend my best possible participation to help Mr. Ghatak's victory.' Mr. Ali had bagged 38 thousand vote in last assembly election. He said that he has already sent his resignation to the RJD supremo, Mr. Laloo Prasad Yadav. He said, 'the attitude of the local CPI-M leaders were going beyond tolerence day by day. So I preferred to give up their alliance and join the Trinamul.' Mr. Ghatak added, 'his
joining will increase the intensity of Trinamul fighting courage against the CPI-M during the election.'
