Padmasree Sangha started expanding their Durgapuja as an ancillary to the Sobuj Sangha by pulling the crowd of Laltu & Sobuj. Gradually it has made a rank of its own. On its 52nd year one has to be mesmerized by the superb bit of craft done with kulo & cane baskets (jhuri) on the mandap. Both the exterior & the interior has been nicely done. One has to be astonished to see a huge chandelier (jharbati) totally done with cane baskets. The organisers explained that, they have focused on the cottage handicrafts of the villages & hope they can manage to promote the craft of cane basket by their show. The Durga idol is nicely done by Narayan Chandra Pal of Burdwan.
