This Durgapuja although started way back in 1961, managed to excel from last year depicting the `pat-chaitra theme'. This year the committee presents the theme of peace & restoration of historic monument.

The mandap is built as a prototype of the famous 120 no. cave of Ajanta (of Ajanta - Ellora fame). The interior is built depicting the exact prototype of the cave. Students of the government art college led by Sudip Konar rebuilt the cave, using plaster of paris. Sand has been used to give the age old looks. The organisers claimed that they along with the artists actually visited the cave before creating the prototype.

The interior of the mandap is decorated with the cave paintings with the same worn-out looks. The debi pratima of this puja also matches with the theme and is made as a rock sculptor in Buddhist style.
