Mob went rampage following the death of a father and 2 kids run
over by a speeding truck at Bhiringi more G.T. Road,
Durgapur this morning. This was followed by the suicide
news of the mother of the kids. Police came to the spot to pick up
the bodies after 45 minutes of the incident.

People
become violent and torched 2 police vehicles. Some policemen
including one officer have been beaten by angry mob. The mob
snatched 3 rifles and 1 revolver. One rifle thrown in to the fire.
Police
fired ten round of tear gas shells and 40 round of bullets to
disburse the mob. 3 feared killed and 2 severely injured in police
firing. |
3 police officials including the
I.C. of Faridpur P.S.
were severely injured in the incident and injured are shifted to
Bidhannagar hospital. The
condition of the 2 injured in firing are reported to be critical.
Traffic was disrupted on G.T. Road for over 5 hours. Senior police
officials including district police super B.N. Ramesh and Durgapur
additional police super Sunil Halder rushed to the spot 3 hours
later.
Tomorrow SUCI, TMC, BJP called a 12 hour Durgapur subdivision
bandh protesting police firing.
